Making it happen

Our society has taught us to take no for an answer and move on, but imagine if you had gotten a yes…how different pieces of your life may have been.  Rarely do I accept ‘no’ for an answer.  Not when my parents told me I could never have a pet as a child, not when the local women’s shelter told me I was too young to volunteer at age 9, not when they told me there was no way I could finish my undergraduate degree in under 3 years, and not when they told me I couldn’t get in to the MBA program because no 21-year-old ever had before.  These things didn’t happen for me because I was extraordinary…they happened for me because I asked…and questioned…and asked some more until a second look was taken with an open mind and new possibilities were accepted.  Everyone can do this for themselves…no one needs to settle for a ‘no’ when they have a dream. If you ask, and ask someone else, and try harder, and get creative, and ask again…you will find that most everything you want for yourself, you can get.

My name is Liane Williams, I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, raised in Seattle, Washington, and have been living in Victoria for the past four years.  I completed my undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Film Studies and am currently the youngest MBA Candidate at the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria.  I plan to pursue a career in Sales and Marketing upon completion of this program, where I will ask…ask again…and ask one more time until everything my company wants, my company gets.
